Meccep gives the recipe for the Acidic Porcupine. Once you hear his call for help, you need to move fast to save him, otherwise his knowledge dies with him...

i get two times kill monolith in x10 lab from barman.
2nd times there is not monolith in x lab 10. task is can not complete.

The Svarog detector is used to find artefacts anywhere on the map. The Isomorph detector is specifically for finding isomorphic items such as those required by

I think the items that Sid gives you are part of this task, but if you have already completed that mission I would just ignore it. You should find the new tasks available in your next game.

You can reach the guard tower from within the bandit base. There is a climbable ladder up the centre of the tower.

You can reach the guard tower from within the bandit base. There is a climbable ladder up the centre of the tower.

Thanks, pchester. I missed this, and its context, totally when my Huck and Chuck mission got screwed up scratch

Anyone care to tell me, briefly, what happened with H&C, please, re their dialogue?
I've been to see Cat at the Bar once once, and can make some sense of the mission from there on to find Rabinovich, but is there anything significant in the dialogues from first encountering H&C to looking for Rabinovich, please?

EDIT: And how does Cat's dialogue about the Black Doctor fit in, please?

PostSubject: Level up 1 Courtyard   Mon 19 Feb 2018 - 2:35

So as my post title says, I have a question about the courtyard area.

I was on my way through ZEP documents when all of a sudden, I see a trader icon.
An NPC called "Captain Dyklov" I think and hostile,  I killed the NPC and he had trader inventory.

Is he an important NPC that I should avoid killing or is the trader icon and inventory an oversight?

If this is your first time through the Courtyards, the military trader will be present.  I think this NPC hasn't been developed much yet (a "placeholder"), as you saw him.  Perhaps TB has later plans for him?

A loner will join him in that "store" later, again mostly as just a stubbed-out character I think.

I wouldn't kill the trader as we don't yet know what, if any, purpose he serves.  The loner has a bit of a story line, you have met him before Wink  and you may want to do a small task for him.  Trying to trade with Dykov  got me soundly butt-stroked but I could not provoke him to fire on me.  (or is it Dyklov?  If so I'm flashing back to Jay and Silent Bob where Jay says (kinda), "He loves the Dyklov" lol)

I've reloaded Pripyat, gone back to where the mission is assigned by Voronin, but

They were there when I did that task recently. Silly question, but were you looking in the correct room? Those top floor apartments always confuse me, and I often go into the wrong one.

I thought the same at the time, so visited all rooms in both apartment complexes. The only thing that happened is that I broke most of the teeth in my fine-toothed comb! No small thermos love...

Afaik, small thermoses are at the standard location (v16.9).
You must talk with that guy at the Bar, for small thermoses to spawn. I forgot that more than once;)

Know who you're talking about - he's the one who says "You can't go there", Garik.  He always wants something I don't collect to tell me where the small thermoses are - cigarettes, I think.

I just looked up that save and the dialog states that I spoke with him and got the original answer, a destroyed shop, near the bus station, top floor.  Still, no thermoses.  Little punk! Wink

Hey!  Thanks for helping out!

ETA: I just remembered, when his 10000 ru went to 20000 ru on payment, I shot his sorry punk head between the eyes. After years of playing SS, I couldn't take his weasel ways any more.

I had to fight off Radar Monolith at the main drag/Pripyat road several times after returning from NPP2, but it now seems to have settled down to previous (zero) spawns.

Related? - I am well past the second trip to Chernobyl and have found just 2 fireballs since I started the game. I check each level with the Svarog detector, but no fireballs are spawning anywhere. They weren't the most common artifact in previous games but are scarce in 16.8. The 15 artifacts for Crest is taking a long time to complete!

Sheesh - I'm no longer playing STALKERSOUP, I'm playing STALKER lotto.

NOT sprinting, I'm across the road from the hangar in Garbage, when my backpack explodes more or less silently. Shooting was going on nearby so I didn't hear the "whoosh" of stuff flying out of my backpack.

By the time I realized what had happened, the Loner who hangs out in the kiosk across from the hangar had collected both a Simbion and the Voronin stealth exo - neither of which were in his inventory for sale.

Yes, I reloaded a save, but this was not the only time I've lost important gear to NPC and had to reload the game.  This completely disrupts the mood and atmosphere of the game.

This is not playing a game, it's a psychological experiment on how masochistic I choose to be:

1.  You have no choice but to use the sh*tty backpack.  You can't upgrade or buy a better one to replace the crappy, mandatory backpack.  You're stuck.

2.  Even with 75-80% backpack utilization you stand a chance of backpack explosion even when NOT sprinting.  There is no "walk" toggle that I may find, only the standard jog and the sprint.  Do I need to crawl through levels when carrying important items (rhetorical question)?

3.  I've had my backpack explode even when there is no load icon showing.  In other words, no yellow, orange nor red overload icon is present in the HUD.  At what weight or weight percentage is MO subject to potential loss of gear?

4.  I'm now constantly writing down start-of-level backpack weight and comparing it to weights as I pass through a level, in case I have an un-noticed explosion. This is somewhat realistic and, like the current bone "pain/cracking" is tolerable, to me.

The backpack feature is as frustrating as any I've ever seen, in any game.  Unpredictable, insurmountable (other than carrying a significantly smaller amount of gear than before, but how much smaller?) and generally distracting from the gameplay IMO.

This is a great game, overall.  I am in awe of the fact so much has and is being done.  I recently "finished" STALKERSOUP for the first time ever, thanks in no small part to overarching improvements in the coding, missions and translations.

Thanks!  But, could we please have this exploding backpack feature revisited and either made more tenable or eliminated altogether?
