 Mines and Explosives

Is there some secret to using these?  If I have mines in my inventory, I just drop it to place it, but it doesn't ever seem to explode when an enemy or critter walks near it.  Also, If I drop an explosive and then 'use' a detonator, nothing happens.  Seems like the only way I can detonate these is to shoot them or throw a grenade at them.

Yes, at the moment that seems to be the only way to detonate mines and explosives that MO uses. Mines in minefields work correctly, so hopefully the player-usable ones will be fixed in a future update.

OK good to know I'm not doing it wrong. I'd like to see mines handled the same way embryos are. You put the mine in weapon slot 2, and click and hold 'Fire' to activate and drop it. Not sure how difficult that would be to code, though.

The remote control works with certain types of explosives (or at least it did last time I tried), but not with mines.

I don't know if it still works, but one way of doing assassination missions against "friendlies" without losing reputation was to sell them some explosive and then use the remote. Shocked

its not that I havnt tried it, its just throwing a grenade is faster then setting up explosives and using a remote

O'dear pchester you are wicked, but to take it one step further, when you go to army warehouse
and remove the the duty in the shed on the right, go and see the boss and sell him some explosive,
wait till dark when they are all asleep and ...oops sorry did that hurt, then they all wont get hostile,
well in theory, if you do not kill them all go and sell some more if you have it that is, and..oops sorry.
