 Encountering error when escorting Hologram

When I pick up the quest to escort Hologram to the border of Recon and Army warehouses, upon reaching the border he wont talk to me. When I try to enter the next zone, the game crashes. If I make a save while trying to escort him, the game crashes. The only saves I can load are BEFORE grabbing the escort quest.

Definitely one for TB or Aleks!

As a purely temporary fix you could try editing your gamedata\scripts\xr_logic.script file, but you will need to unpack it first.

Caveat: I am an amateur programmer at best, so I don't know if this would work.

The indicated line (1409) is:

if utils.to_str(obj:name()) == "single_player" or npc_id == db.actor:id() then

The error message says that 'actor' is a nil value, so you could remove the actor part so it reads:

if utils.to_str(obj:name()) == "single_player" then

and put this in your gamedata\scripts\ folder. If it gets you past the transition, then delete the edited file and carry on. If it crashes your game or just doesn't work, delete the file and wait for help from the professionals! affraid

I tried the fix, and the first time I redid the quest, Hologram FINALLY talked to me at the end! But, then my game auto-saved and crashed and I had to redo it. I've reloaded the game and retried this quest over 20 different times now, running tests to see what the heck is actually going on and I found a few things...

There's something really strange going on in the Recon zone. Half way through the escort mission I realized my Bio-radar stops working and the animation completely locks out. Upon discovering that, I realized that the game doesn't recognize me taking off my armor aswell. If I take off my suit, the goggle graphics are still present. The same goes with the Svarog detector. The furthest I got where Hologram talked to me was when I took off all of my artifacts, armor, and bioradar along with detectors.

Another thing I discovered, is I believe Avengers are supposed to be spawning to prevent me from escorting Hologram, but they don't do anything. They spawn as neutral npc's, and when I try to talk to them It thinks I'm trying to loot them, so my hacking module collects money from them and I have basic dialogue options with them. They also spawn without weapons, which is really weird. scratch

Hologram is also acting incredibly erratic. It's almost like hes hallucinating or something, because he will pull out his rifle and start running away and crouch behind cover, then start firing in a random direction, then continue to run away. With my binoculars and smart scopes, I see absolutely nothing around us. Although the binoculars sometimes do pickup HUGE targets that are far off which look to be outside of the level boundaries.


EDIT:

I finally got him to talk to me and do the quest normal!cheers

By running far to the south near the dump transition and then following that road all the way past the lake and up to the army warehouses. Any other pathway would lead to the bugs I described above. Not sure what could be causing that however.
