 Armor stats all zero/red suddenly...

PostSubject: Armor stats all zero/red suddenly...   Sat 31 Mar 2018 - 17:28

I entered the Forest map for the first time coming from Garbage.
killed some mutants, picked up (not equipped) some artifacts and walked into one of those
ground-plant anomalies (which I think together with mutant attacks got me bleeding badly).
I then noticed that my stats were all bad even when I healed up that status remained.

What would you say was likely the cause?

That plant (xvalalta?) just ruined your armor. If you can load a save prior to walking into the plant, that's your best recourse. Not sure if the armor can be repaired, never tried it.

Encyclopedia entry for the 'Catcher' or 'Shredder', previously known as the 'Xvatalka'

'This bio-anomaly grasps its victims by means of thick barbed tendrils extending from its center, gripping them helplessly while feeding on the extensive bleeding it causes. Make no mistake - this thing will rip through all but the toughest armor, rendering it totally useless, massively assaulting the nervous system, and making it impossible to move without inflicting further self-harm until it releases its constraint.

Hard to spot on the ground and totally stationary until triggered, it is beyond doubt one of the Zone's most dangerous examples of mutated flora. Even after surviving an encounter with one, you'll be left traumatized and to the uncertain mercy of the Zone.

While it reacts to thrown bolts, only the Advanced detector can identify them nearby, which is why some wary Stalkers have taken to GPS-marking the locations of this latent menace in areas they frequent'

Knowing that, the Catcher does have its uses...

Thanks, Sword, I remember reading about it being renamed, but my old brain didn't record it. Embarassed

Sakharov's teleporter often drops MO into a Catcher plant in Yantar. Tired of replacing perfectly good armor, I remove it before using that teleport. Then jump out quickly and heal up. The "Catcher" does hum rather distinctively and loud enough that if MO pays attention, he knows he's close to a nasty surprise.

I like "Catcher" better than the old name I can't remember anyway.

This anomaly along with 'star' are the nightmares of armor, and i've seen that sometimes this two can be invisible after reloading a save in the map they are in or they won't appear at all, the xvatalka is easy to see if it's not bugged out, and the star it's a massive thing that comes out of the ground, but ones bugged it cannot be seen anymore, it just acts as an invisible anomaly, wich brought me problems at the swamps...

I don't think it is bugged as such, I think it is just a cunning trap for anyone running across the bridge without taking due care. However, I don't understand why even the locals don't seem to know about it. It has obviously been growing(?) there for a while, but the Clear Sky squad at the entry farm always run through it without stopping and die a short distance past the bridge. You would think by now they would know to make a detour!

'Twasn't always so. I do remember times past when they avoided the trap and assisted in attacking the bandits at the church.

Such is the Zone that it clouds men's minds...

Npcs are dumb, that's all there is, now the problem comes when a needed npc on an escort mission dies because of anomaly placement that makes you LOAD A SAVE 1 HOUR AGO, now that is dumb, also F5 and F9 are BAE (?
