Make sure you have the XNA framework installed to run the game properly!

Just an announcement for the benefit of new players - I performed all of the recommended installation instructions EXCEPT for the installation of the XNA framework. The instructions wording made it seem like this was optional.
However, I could not get the game to run UNTIL the XNA framework was installed!

Hi Sword.

As this is beyond my area of experience, I suggest you refer to the Windows 10 section of the Installation Guide below, which contains a compiled selection of contributors' experiences (most notably from kd6dm) with getting the game working

Read this thread with interest, as the XNA framework is only needed for games that were developed using the Microsoft XNA Game Studio 4.0 program. This is used primarily for XBox games and other games developed to run on various Windows platforms. It's a dead technology abandoned by Microsoft in 2016, and is not supported in Windows 10. I am not aware that it is required by StalkerSoup.

I do not have the XNA Framework installed on my Windows 10 computer, and StalkerSoup runs fine. I have no idea why cullinaire couldn't run StalkerSoup until after installing XNA.

Anyway, glad you got StalkerSoup running OK, cullinaire.

EDIT: If it's needed for Windows 7, that's a new one on me. Interested to hear from TB or Aleks on this one.

Installing the XNA framework solved a particular crash I'd get upon attempting to start the game for the first time. As you said, it's probably not the entire framework that is required, but perhaps 1 or 2 libraries out of the entire installation that I may have needed and not gotten elsewhere.
