S.T.A.L.K.E.R Novels

Hello fellow Stalkers!
I've just read "S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Southern Comfort" - a novel set in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R world by Balazs Pataki. It's about a Ukranian special forces officer - Mikhailo Tarasov - who, having served in the Zone, is sent by Colonel Kuznetsov into a new Zone which has opened up in Afghanistan to rescue a science team led by Sakharov. A good read - available from Smashwords as a pdf, mobi or Epub.

I have both S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Southern Comfort & the sequel S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Northern Passage in physical form on my bookshelf. Pataki originally published under the name of John Mason. Been several years since I read them.

Vaguely recall there were some copyright issues, where GSC initially gave the author permission, then removed it, so he re-released the books removing the stalker references.

Every so often I do a search to see if any of the officially licenced novels have been been translated (either fan or officially). Not yet found any, so these (and a couple of graphic novels) are the only written forms in english we have that I know of.

Thank you for letting us know about these books. Somehow I have missed out on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. books until now, despite being an avid fan of the games. This morning I downloaded S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Southern Comfort (free download from the links above) and I am enjoying reading fiction based in a world that I know so well .

I managed to snag both copies of STALKER Northern passage and Southern Comfort on ebay. Both are a pretty good read even though the zone has moved to Afghanistan.

Hoping they release more books based on our favourite game.

Just found a couple of short storys written by Patrick Todoroff
- A Prayer to Saint Strelok: a tale from the Exclusion Zone
- Strange Treasure: Another Tale from the Exclusion Zone

I've not read them so cannot comment on them
