| I'm kinda stuck. I'm in the Generators & have brought Boatswain back safely. I spoke with Andresen, the Scientist & received the "Find the Gameboy" quest. I'm suppose to talk to Ghost & get a link to the Prypiat transition before I go find the Gameboy, but Ghost is nowhere to be found. If I carry on, find the Gameboy, bring it to Andresen & then to Boatswain. When Boatswain goes into the Generator Base to disable the PSI transmitters, he never comes back out. I've sat tight & waited for up to 45 minutes(real time) with no results. What am I doing wrong? Also, I haven't met the Black Doctor in the Hospital yet or completed Swamp Doctors' Quest to find Streloks' PDA & such. Related perhaps? Thanks for the help | |

There are two camp fires, and he can be found at each of them at different times. If he never arrived, sometimes he gets 'stuck' on the other side of the lake where he stops to speak to you on the way in to the village.
There is some further dialogue between MO and Ghost that may me important to later events, but I'm not sure what the triggers are. For example, when Boatswain set off for the base alone, did you send Ghost an SMS to tell him you were going to wait?
Boatswain can take a long time to leave the base, but I have never known him to take that long. Unfortunately I don't know of a way to force him to move. You may need to reload from an earlier save and try again.
You should have met the Black Doctor in the Hospital before you reach Generators, if only for story continuity, but I don't think failing to do so would have an effect at this stage. You obviously met him on Generators when he arrived by helicopter, so that part wasn't affected. Strelok's PDA leads to another quest line, but again that shouldn't affect anything happening on Generators.
My suggestion would be to reload a save from before you set off for the base with Boatswain. See if Ghost is stuck somewhere on the route you took when you entered Generators and see if he will then follow you to the village or talk to you about Boatswain. Then see if Boatswain will return from the base in a more reasonable time (10-15 mins?).
If that doesn't work, I would go back to before entering Generators and complete the Black-Doctor-in-Hospital first, just to see if that does make a difference.

Hi dmjhel, Stalkersoup, is quite linear and getting things done in the right order helps you. pchester, has produced two excellent walkthrough guides which go from the start to Recon, and then Recon to Reclamation as the end of level 0 ie the level you are playing. For a first go at the game, it is certainly imo worth reading. It may also show you why your present game has this hiccup for you. When I touched bases with Ghost before going after the Gameboy, he did not give me the Transition to Prypiat. After I delivered the Gameboy & escorted Boatswain to the Base..... Well, he disabled the PSI generators, but did not come back. I've been thinking bout it & I've noticed a few errors.... Dare I say Anomalies... Ok, the furthest back issue I noticed was all the way back in the Lost Village. Whenever I took the snazzy Stealth Exoskeleton & Hot Rod Guass rifle, the game would crash whenever I tried to leave. By Transition or by teleport, the game would crash & the Autosave would not load. So, I didn't take the loot. I figured that was meant for later. I then remembered I had never received the side quest to meet the Black Doctor in the Hospital. Not sure just when I was supposed to see that, but the one time I did go to the Hospital, all I found was Feral Cat & his Cronies & a few Monolith Goons. Next, I found the side quest to find Streloks' PDA also would cause a permanent crash point. Same as in the Lost Village, after I pick up the PDA & the note; the game crashes & will not reload. Once I get to the Generators, I cannot find the helicopter I'm suppose to take down, so I end up paying the money... Ok, getting a bit frustrated. Incidentally, I had already finished the main SOC story line before I found a decent guide outlining some of the side quest.. Might that be my issue? Do I need to start over & properly integrate the side quests properly? Can you direct me to a more completed guide? I appreciate your help. I know us old farts just can't handle all this tech shit. The best guide to the entire game is, by far, pchester's 'A Walk Through StalkerSoup', available here [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
But Cat has not been known as 'Feral Cat' for a long time, so I'm wondering if you're using an old save that's no longer compatible with the latest version of the game... Quite possible. I don't keep track of just when the latest downloads occur. I'll take a look at your recommended guide & try again. Not like I haven't had to start the game over again. Thanx, Kind Stalker. J. | |

One of the great things about Stalkersoup is that it is a standalone game, free, and no commercial DVDs needed. The present version is 1.10019.1 and pchester's guides are afaik 1.10018. There is a difference between the latter and former versions. Stalkersoup has been evolving for 10 years, and will hopefully continue its evolution. But as it evolves things change. However the basic storyline of level 0, without sidequests is much the same. If you look at the installation section, there should be a guide from 2011 and 2014, also a picture guide and now pchester's. So if your game is older than 1.10018, the other guides will provide some help, even though not up to date. _________________________________________________ TrueB
